Itinerary for our 3 night Weekend Cruise to Lymm

Our 3 Night weekend Cheshire canal cruise includes a night in Castlefield basin, central Manchester, the National Trust’s Dunham Massey Hall, Gardens & Deer Park and the charming village of Lymm before returning through the Cheshire countryside to Castlefield Basin.

At the end of each day we tie up near a country pub or in a village every night. Your Skipper then leaves you to it and returns the following morning to continue your cruise.

Day 1. Castlefield Basin, Central Manchester.

Guests are invited to arrive anytime after 2pm when you can enjoy an afternoon & evening taking in the industrial and Roman heart of Manchester. Castlefield is home to The Museum of Science & Industry,  a Roman fort, networks of canals, old mills, new bars and sophisticated restaurants.

Our mooring is in front of The Wharf Pub which serves great food, fine wines and a good selection of beers.

Day 2. From Castlefield Basin to Dunham Massey.

Our morning cruise takes us out of Manchester, through the leafy suburbs of Sale & Altrincham and into the Cheshire Countryside when we can stop off at Little Heath Farm Shop to stock up on local breakfast produce.

We cruise onto Little Bollington where the canal offers lovely countryside views. This charming hamlet has a tea room and a fine pub where guests can enjoy a walk or a visit to the The Swan With Two Nicks  where many a happy hour has been lost in conversations with the locals whilst enjoying their fine food!

Day 3.  From Dunham to Lymm

Our lazy day starts with giving guests the morning to explore Dunham Massey Hall & Deer Park before continuing our cruise through the Cheshire countryside where we catch glimpses of the west Pennine hills through the hedgerows.

By late afternoon, we moor up in the charming village of Lymm where you can explore the shops & cafes, or step out on a lovely walk around Lymm Damm before sampling the delights of the local restaurants & pubs for the evening.

Day 4.  From Lymm to Castlefield Basin. 

We retrace our steps cruising through the leafy suburb of Altrincham before making our way back into Manchester for about 4pm.

Guests can jump ship if an earlier departure is required by jumping onto the Manchester Tram in Sale which will whisk you back into central Mnachesterby about 1pm.
