Canal Side Pubs and Restaurants along The Bridgewater Canal

There are plenty of opportunities to step off of Castlerose to enjoy the delicious food, fine wines and real ale served in the quality canal side pubs and restaurants we visit on our canal holiday cruises along The Bridgewater Canal.

The Wharf Pub in Castlefield
The Wharf is a top gastro-pub with super friendly staff located on the other side of the footbridge from our permanent mooring in Castlefield Basin.

Downstairs is more pub service in style with six cask ales, a decent wine list of some 50 bins and over a hundred malts. Upstairs is more restaurant, with full table service.  They have a large terrace which is a really popular place to eat in the summer with stunning views out over the canal basin.

And by the way: they put on live music on most Friday nights!

Albert's Shed in Castlefield

For fine dining, you need go no further than a short walk from our mooring in Castlefield to Albert’s Shed.

Quoting from their website:”We opened our first restaurant in Castlefield in 2004 with a clear aim: To deliver quality food to local customers at a reasonable price in a sharp, modern space with friendly, unpretentious service. We have pursued that goal ever since and it has earned us many loyal customers. Our menu is probably classed as British with some additional favourites from Italy and around the globe.”

Albert’s Shed and their sister bar, Dukes 92, often put on live Jazz music on a Sunday afternoon.
